Motive was a tribute song to Jay Gregory who passed in 2010, the grandfather of Lee Caruso Jr. Jay was a successful entrepreneur and inspired him in many ways. He even helped him invest in his first piece of recording equipment at age 16 in which would grow into a recording studio named after him (JKG Studios in Pittsburgh, PA). Lee says, “This song to me was not only a tribute, but a reminder on how important family is and people we love. From unconditional love, we get strength and support that can help us get through our rocky journey’s to success.” The acoustic version became a live favorite by accident. Big Atlantic is well known for breaking gear on stage, during a live show in 2013, they had to call an audible when some of their gear started malfunctioning. This was the first time Motive was played acoustically.
